Buried, Not Broken

A Journey from Survival to Self

Buried, Not Broken by Jade Blake held against a sunset

The book

Not another trauma book.

Buried, Not Broken is a raw, honest and unexpectedly funny journey through childhood trauma, complex PTSD, destructive coping strategies, motherhood, recovery and spiritual awakening.

Although trauma is part of the story, this is primarily a book about freedom. Jade steps outside her experiences to explore how the things we survive can continue shaping our beliefs, relationships and decisions long after the danger has passed—and what becomes possible when we finally begin connecting the patterns.

This is not a story about revisiting trauma simply to relive the pain. It is about understanding what shaped you, releasing what no longer belongs to you and reclaiming the freedom to choose what happens next.

You are not returning to the person you were before the pain. You are discovering the person the pain could never destroy.

It is an invitation to rediscover who you were before the world shaped your story—and before you ever believed you were broken.

This book is for the woman who…

Has survived more than most people will ever know—and became so good at surviving that everyone assumes she is okay.

She is the calm one. The capable one. The one who listens, supports, solves problems and somehow keeps everyone else afloat—even while she is quietly drowning beneath the weight of her own life.

She gives and gives, pouring out every part of herself, but rarely has the time, space or support to fill herself back up.

From the moment she gets out of bed, she steps onto the wheel: working, caring, cooking, cleaning, paying bills, remembering appointments and carrying the endless mental list nobody else seems to see. She runs all day, collapses into bed and wakes up only to begin again—constantly moving, but never feeling as though she is getting anywhere.

It can feel like Groundhog Day: repeating the same mistakes, returning to the same relationships or reaching for the same ways of coping—and then blaming herself when nothing seems to change.

She may have relied on overworking, overeating, unhealthy relationships, alcohol, numbing, doom-scrolling, emotional avoidance or other destructive coping strategies—not because she was weak, but because she was trying to escape pain she did not yet understand and did not know needed healing.

She smiles. She stays calm. She remains supportive. She does her best. She never gives up.

She is always there for everyone.

But when she needs somebody, she often discovers that nobody is truly there for her.

If you recognise yourself in these words, this book was written for you. Not to tell you to try harder or ask you to relive everything that hurt you, but to help you understand why life has felt so heavy—and why none of it means you are broken.

You have carried everyone else for long enough.
It is time to come home to yourself.
